Enjoy Crystal-Clear Pool Water All Season Long

The pool season has started: it's time to dive in!
To swim in a clean and pleasant pool without risk to your health, follow these simple water maintenance rules in order. With BAYROL you will enjoy your pool to the fullest throughout the season!
For effective, regular pool care
-
1
Clean your pool water
Once a week and every day during peak season. Leaves, insects and debris carried by the wind promote the growth of algae and bacteria and must be removed regularly.
-
2
Filter sufficiently
The filtration time in hours per day must be at least equal to the water temperature divided by 2. When the water temperature exceeds 28°C, it is strongly recommended to filter 24 hours a day. Download > the free My Pool Expert app

3
Measure your water values
Once or twice a week, and more frequently in hot weather, after a storm or heavy use of the pool. Analyse and adjust your settings to optimise your dosages and avoid using too much product. Use > Quicktest, Pooltester pH/Cl, Pooltester Electronic
-
4
Adjust your pH and total alkalinity (TA)
The pH should be checked at least once a week and should be between 7.0 and 7.4* (chlorine or active oxygen pools) or between 7.0 and 7.6 (bromine pools). Check your TA: the correct alkalinity (above 80 mg/L) prevents pH fluctuations and improves water balance. Recommended products > pH-Minus, pH-Plus, Alca-Plus
-
5
Disinfect the pool water
Eliminate bacteria and microbes by performing continuous disinfection treatment. Adjust the product dosage to maintain the recommended level at all times (chlorine 0.5-2 mg/L, bromine 1-3 mg/L). Recommended products > Chlorilong® CLASSIC, Chlorilong® POWER5, Chlorilong® ULTIMATE7, Aquabrome®
-
6
Fight against algae
Don't wait until your water turns green! To slow down algae growth, regularly add an anti-algae product to the pond with Desalgin® JET (well-mixed water).
-
7
Flocculate/clarify your water
For crystal clear water all season long! Use a flocculant if you have a sand or glass filter > Superflock Plus. If you have a cartridge filter, use a clarifier > Superklar.
Regular pool maintenance, frequently asked questions
-
To get the most out of your pool and enjoy clear, beautiful, healthy water all year round, you need to maintain it regularly and follow a few simple rules when treating your pool physically (thorough cleaning of the pool, water line, filter and filtration system) and chemically (using treatment products), even in winter.
This is because your pool water is alive and subject to various factors, such as weather conditions, the number of swimmers and poor maintenance. The more regular and frequent the maintenance of a pool, the less time it takes.
During the swimming season, weekly treatment is necessary, taking care to follow the 4 treatment steps. In addition, during the high season, you should clean your pool every day with a skimmer to remove plant debris from the surface of the water. And during heat waves, you should test your water daily to maintain its parameters and prevent it from turning cloudy.
-
To keep your water crystal clear and in good condition, you must first physically clean your pool, then test your water using test strips, a test kit or an electronic tester, and follow the four steps for treating pool water in the correct order:
- Balance the water with a pH increaser or reducer and a pH regulator that increases the alkalinity of the water.
- Disinfect the water with a chlorine, bromine or active oxygen disinfectant, depending on the method chosen.
- Prevent algae with an anti-algae treatment.
- Flocculation/clarification to help the filter remove suspended particles and prevent water turbidity.
Remember that filtration accounts for 80% of water treatment!
It is necessary to maintain your filter (sand filter, cartridge filter or diatom filter) properly for optimal operation of the pump and filtration system.
If you have a water problem, we have all the solutions and products you need to help you quickly and permanently restore beautiful water, without any risk to your health. Click HERE for all the protocols and solutions to the most common water problems.

The secret to effective pool maintenance goes beyond water treatment. Thorough cleaning will help preserve your equipment and extend its life. It is necessary to clean your pool regularly, at least once a week, or even every day during the high season.
A skimmer, brush, vacuum cleaner, water line brush and pool robot are essential summer items for cleaning the bottom and sides of your pool to remove leaves, insects and other debris brought in by the wind.
Similarly, filtration accounts for 80% of water treatment, so don't forget to clean your filter! The filtration system is what allows the water to regenerate: the pump draws in the water and sends it to the filter to remove impurities.
At the start of the season, if you have a sand filter, backwash the filter. Disinfect the filter with Filterclean Tab. And if you live in an area with hard water, descale your filter with Decalcit Filtre.

Disinfection is a fundamental step in treating swimming pool water to eliminate microbes and impurities present in the water. After balancing the water, it is the second step in water treatment.
Without the addition of a disinfectant, the water becomes cloudy and its hygiene level drops, making swimming inadvisable or even harmful to the health of bathers. Depending on the treatment method chosen, use a chlorine, bromine or active oxygen disinfectant. The generally recommended frequency is every 7 to 10 days. The amount of product to use depends on the volume of your pool.
The aim of shock chlorination is to eradicate microorganisms present in the water through an intensive and rapid addition of active chlorine. Shock treatment can be carried out when filling or opening the pool, as a preventive measure every 3 weeks, in case of high temperatures or heavy use of the pool, in case of problems (cloudy water, algae, low disinfectant levels), bad weather, or when closing the pool for winter storage.

Do you have an above-ground pool or an inflatable spa?
We offer maintenance products that are perfectly suited to your small pool. Above-ground pools smaller than 10 m³ and small inflatable spas require special maintenance and appropriate water treatment products to maintain impeccable hygiene and ensure the durability of your equipment. Small pools are often used by young children, and spas are prone to bacteria due to the high water temperature. To avoid water problems and irritation, and to limit the spread of bacteria, use Mini Pool & Spa, the range specially designed to make it easy to maintain your small pool or inflatable spa with complete peace of mind!
